About the work
El abrazo is a live illusionism work for a single audience member, performed by video call. It combines close-up magic with a narrative about memories, choices and destiny, turning a phone screen into an intimate, participatory space. This is not a recorded video: it happens in real time and is shaped by the presence of the person watching. Its one-to-one scale makes every performance different and transforms physical distance into a form of theatrical closeness.
Journey
A stage for one audience member
Premiered in 2020, the work emerged as a theatrical response to a period of isolation. It formed part of En busca de la belleza, a project supported through the Strategic Projects programme of Chile's Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage. It reached healthcare workers and social organisations in Atacama and, by August 2026, had surpassed 800 performances.
